In 2016, our aspirations were challenged. Current events shook our communities and our hearts. Our assumptions were challenged. Our beliefs, our values, our ideas, our confidence in our progress- who we were, as designers, thinkings, human beings, were challenged. This year, as part of SF Design Week's Hub, me and a talented team of designers worked on a large, magnetic wall with word panels that visitors could move around to craft statements of protest, unity, frustration, and encouragement. The words are a combination of Merriam-Webster’s most searched terms of the 2016 election and of all time. The goal is to enable users to repurpose politically-charged language and visualize a collective understanding of activism.
